Adebayo Breaks Multiple Records with 83 Points!

Bam Adebayo delivered a historic performance in the NBA, scoring 83 points in Miami Heat’s 150–129 victory over the Washington Wizards. The American center had already surpassed his previous career-high by halftime, finishing the first half with 43 points. His final total of 83 points is now the second-highest scoring game in NBA history.

Adebayo shot 20 of 43 from the field, made 7 three-pointers out of 22 attempts, and was extremely effective from the free-throw line, converting 36 of 43 free throws. In addition to the massive scoring total, he also set records for both free throws made and attempted in a single game.

Adebayo now ranks second on the all-time single-game scoring list. Third place belongs to Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors on January 22, 2006. Fifth on the list is Luka Dončić, who recorded 73 points for the Dallas Mavericks against the Atlanta Hawks on January 26, 2024.

Career High Already Broken by Halftime

Adebayo finished the game with an impressive stat line: 83 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. By halftime he had already scored 43 points, surpassing his previous career high of 41 points in a single game.

Interestingly, the combined total from his two previous highest-scoring games (41 and 38 points) is still less than the 83 points he scored in this game against Washington.

During the same game, Adebayo also set Miami franchise records for:

  • most points in a quarter (31)

  • most points in a half (43)

  • most points in a game (83)

His record-breaking performance came 12 years and one week after LeBron James set the previous Miami Heat scoring record with 61 points against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Adebayo’s achievement is even more impressive considering that 11 games this season have featured teams scoring fewer than 83 total points. The most recent example came last week when the Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Boston Celtics 108–81.

With this performance, Adebayo also became the first player this season to score at least 60 points in a single NBA game.
